Close to the shores of the Black Sea, the Kackar range of east Anatolia rises 3935 meters above sea level and holds more than 3000 square kilometres of prime Heliski terrain. With an abundance of snow due to the maritime climate and vicinity of the sea, this destination has quickly become a favourite spot for powder skiers. Runs are perfectly stacked up and the variety of open slopes, couloirs and exposed lines are exciting to ski and board. The panoramic views of the Black Sea and the Caucasus are unforgettable.
Remote mountain villages, inaccessible during winter, are a welcome stopover location for lunch, where local Anatolian culture and cuisine are part of the experience. Our first visit to the Kackar range was in 2005 and we have been returning ever since. The small mountain village of Ayder has become the base for our Heliski operations in Turkey. In fact, we now spend more time in the Kackar range than anywhere else. This is not without reason, as every element for a great Heliskiing experience is provided at this destination.
